Importance: Of the total amount produced by the State of Bahia for export, 65% is shipped through the Salvador and Aratu-Candeias Port Complexes, and the state has a strong industrial profile, mainly due to the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex. According to information from the master plan of the Salvador and Aratu-Candeias Port Complex, between the years 2012 and 2017, general cargo handling had an increase of 90% in its volumes, reaching a total of 394 thousand tons in 2017.
